Central Bank of Nigeria has built and furnished an ultra-modern state-of-the-art secondary school at Owerre Nkworoji, Nkwerre LGA of Imo State, facilitated by the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Currency, Hon Jones Chukwudi Onyereri, representing Nkwerre, Isu, Njaba, Nwangele Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) crusade across the nation.
The Secondary School, first of its kind came with several state-of-the-art facilities, twenty four (24) class rooms, library, e-learning training halls equipped with over 100 computer sets and training facilities, an exhibition and art training halls, conference hall, server/online facilities, administrative block equipped with a/c, staff quarters, Chemistry, Biology, Physics laboratories.
Speaking at the project’s site on inspection , the Hon member representing Nkwerre, Isu, Njaba, Nwangele Federal Constituency, Hon Jones Onyereri , who led newsmen , commended Central Bank’s management for the project, which he said, came at a very auspicious moment when all that occupied his mind was how to better the living standard,learning, research and academic excellence of his constituents.
He described Central Bank, as “a genuine partner in progress”, said the School was the first of its kind in the South eastern part of Nigeria adding that it would impact the Owerre Nkworoji Autonomous community positively, especially in the areas of learning and research.
Other facilities provided by the Bank at the Secondary School include; solar panels, 100KVA generators and a 100KVA transformer to guaranty power 24/7; borehole facility and water treatment plants, among others.
Hon Jones said that he is committed to empowering youths of his Federal Constituency with cutting edge ICT knowledge, Science and technology.
“For me at the House of Representatives , it is not only a dream come true but also an expression of my commitment to ensuring that secondary school in my federal constituency , like their counterparts all over the world, adopt cutting edge technology in their research projects which will ultimately increase academic excellence,” Jones said.

“The availability of data for research and laboratories are fundamental to qualitative analysis of the problems affecting academic excellence . It is our hope that pupils of this secondary school and other researchers would be able to access scientific research and information faster at this school ,” he added.
