Reprieve may not be far in coming the way of detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as Imo State Governor and the Chairman of Progressive Governors' Forum formally wields into the matter to ensure his immediate and unconditional release from detention.
Governor Okorocha who was not spared of Nnamdi Kanu's hate filled and acerbic vituperations through his Radio Biafra broadcasts has called on the Federal Government to release the UK based activist in the spirit of national reconciliation and forgiveness.
Kanu, who is detained at the Kuje Maximum Security Prison for over a year now is accused by the Federal Government of engaging in treasonous activities and making unauthorized broadcasts capable of breaching national security.
A compassionate and open minded leader, Okorocha understands that the Mr. Kanu needs his freedom to be able to reunite with his young family, including a baby boy born to him while in detention, expecting that he must have learnt his lessons and would now be more restrained in making some utterances, even if he decides to continue with his 'freedom' struggles.
Governor Okorocha, who is the most respected Igbo leader at present is expected to appropriate his high level connections and goodwill with the central government to ensure that further actions are not brought against Kanu by the FG.
