The Presidency says those calling on ailing President Muhammadu Buhari to resign are acting in breach of the 1999 constitution. Senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity stated this while reacting to a protest asking president Buhari to resume duties or resign from office.
A group of protesters had earlier lock down parts of the federal capital territory demanding president Buhari to either resume or resign from office. The protest is coming over ninety days after president Buhari return to United Kingdom on a medical follow up.
Reacting, Garba Shehu said president Buhari acted in accordance with the relevant sections of the constitution by transmitting powers to his vice.
