On Tuesday, members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Owerri North LGA were threatened with suspension or expulsion by a two times Governorship candidate of the party, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, Bon Unachukwu, Nze Ray Emeana and Mike Iheanetu during their political consultation for Ihedioha’s re-election bid at the residence of Hon Uchenna Ofoegbu, in Orji, Owerri North LGA.
An insider source who was in attendance revealed that a stern warning was given to the Owerri North PDP Chairman, Chief Engr Osondu Odunze and Ward Chairmen to stop receiving any other PDP Governorship aspirants access to the LGA apart from Emeka Ihedioha.
Our source further said that in their struggle to convince PDP members, Nze Ray Emeana told them how the State Working Committee (SWC) of PDP is working for Ihedioha’s re-election by sidelining other groups suspected to be loyal to any Guber hopeful order than Emeka Ihedioha.
The source maintained that Bon Unachukwu, who spoke on behalf of former Rebuild appointees said that the only hope for Ihedioha remains the State Working Committee and some of his trusted allies to realize the ambition, adding that leaders of the party in Abuja have refused to assist Ihedioha achieve the desired objectives.
The source further quoted a former House of Assembly Member for Aboh Mbaise Constituency, Mike Iheanetu to have said while trying to deceive those in attendance that as a result of the role Ihedioha played during the PDP Presidential election made Aminu Tambuwal to step down for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
According to the source, Iheanetu maintained that immediately Alhaji Atiku Abubakar secured the PDP Presidential ticket, he pleaded with Ihedioha to be his running mate, a request the source said Ihedioha rejected, insisting that he would want to be Governor of Imo state.
Reacting to the threat, the source said that the PDP Chairman of the LGA, Engr Osondu Odunze told them point blank that no PDP Guber aspirant will be rejected as the party’s door will remain open to receive anyone wishing to visit the LGA on political consultation.
The source further stated that the LGA Chairman frowned at the manner in which Ihedioha’s team is playing politics of division, adding that with such divisive tendencies, his ambition will be dead on arrival
In attendance include, Hon. Nze Ray Emeaña (PDP State Secretary), Engr. Chief Osondu Odunze (PDP Owerri North Chairman) and LGA Exco, Ward Chairmen, Chief Mrs. Ann Njoku, founder & State President of Imo women on the Move, former IMC members, Hon. Sir Solomon Onwuegbuchulam, Arch. Chiwuike Ohale, Engr. Uche Ofoegbu, Nze Asika Agoh, Hon. Maxwell Nlemadim (Webber), Mr. Ike Nwaneri, Mr. Vitalis Opara, Hon. Chukwudi Egwunwoke, Adakibeya of Naze and host of other leaders numerous to mention.
In their team include Ihedioha’s former aides, Hon Oliver Enwerenem, Hon Ahiriakwe, Hon Mike Iheanetu, Engr Sly Ama, Hon Innocent Ekenma, Hon Solomon Onwuegbuchulam, Chief Zubby Nwoke, Dr Iwuagwu, Chris Nwogu, Mrs Rose Njoku, Bar Ambrose Ugbaja, Chief Calistus Mbaoma, Mrs Gertrude Iroeme, Chief Charles Abara, Chief Martin Opara, Sir Emeka Amajirionwu, Hon Ebere Chukwuemeka(ABJ), Chief Richmond Osuji,Nze Anslem Ikwu, Chief Steve Onu, and Chief Kelvin Agbaegbu, etc.
