The Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State chapter, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has attributed his victory at the just concluded Governorship Primary election to God.
Anyanwu made this remark during his victory speech at his hometown Amaimo, Ikeduru Local Government Area days after he was declared winner by the Electoral Committee Panel that conducted the exercise on April 12th, 2023.
Anyanwu who was accompanied by family relatives, Political associates, party chieftains and supporters in Thanksgiving at St Columba Catholic Parish, Amaimo, expressed gratitude to God for emerging victorious as the Standard bearer of Imo PDP ahead November 11 Governorship election.
"With utmost humility and gratitude to God, I thank my party faithful and delegates for the confidence reposed in me by voting me in the just concluded party primary". This reflects the supreme will of the Almighty God as an overwhelming sacred mandate of the people.”
"When I received the massive clamour by the good people of Imo State to come and serve them, I persevered with the support of my immediate Political family, the Divine Mandate Movement and support of critical stakeholders of our great party till this divine moment. This is a Divine journey whose time has come. To God be all the glory and adoration."
He thanked the leadership Campaign Council, Divine Mandate Movement, whom he said worked very hard by taking the message of his aspiration across the 305 Electoral Wards in the State.
"We are humbled by the massive support of stakeholders across the 27 LGAs of the state."
Anyanwu further commended his friends and associates for their unflinching support while promising to work hard to recover Imo from insecurity and starvation.
The PDP Candidate also honored the memory of those who died as a result of prevalent security situations under the present administration and promised to avenge their demise by ensuring he secures the state and return peace to the land.
He said: "At this moment, we must remember all those who died as a result of insecurity, especially the killings recorded in some communities Orlu Zone, as well as Okigwe zone by yet to be identified gunmen.
While praying God to grant their souls eternal rest, Anyanwu called for support across the state to be able to reclaim and secure the state from comatose.
